What is a semi-anechoic chamber?

In a semi-anechoic chamber the walls and ceiling are covered with signal-absorbing material, while the floor is metal. This setup imitates outdoor product testing indoors.
Most of the emission and immunity tests required for CE and similar certifications are done in these chambers. They are classed as SAC-3, SAC-5 and SAC-10 by test distance.

What is the difference between SAC-3 and SAC-10?
It is the test distance between the antenna and the product. Some standards and large products require 10 m; for small products 3 m is often enough.
Is the chamber sufficient for certification testing?
Yes, once the chamber is validated to the standard. For accredited testing, the laboratory must also obtain accreditation separately.
Are immunity tests also performed?
Yes. With suitable amplifiers and antennas, immunity tests such as IEC 61000-4-3 are also performed.
How long does installation take?
It depends on chamber size and the building. We give a detailed work schedule after the survey.
